| A THOUGHT |
So many things in this world amaze me. There are so many things that make me think twice as if i had to really dwell in them. But you know, it's so difficult to learn from others when you yourself are trying to figure things out as you trod upon uncharted happenings in life. I don't know but it seems like having friends is a thing where we keep ourselves from fulfilling what they're supposed to be blessed with. And if the end result can justify the means, it will be almost irreverent to assume that after all the sacrifices, it was worth it. But you can really tell yourself that within the realm of human compassion, having someone that you trust and probably like so much as if it's sinful would be to assume that we are an island. We can't comprehend the beauty of life doing something alone. We are social beings and we deem necessary to implore even the aid of the divine providence if we have to. Just to be able to experience, even a sliver, of the bliss that we so highly aim for. |

Many things make me smile. many things make me feel sad. But to distinguish sadness from happiness is all but relative. sadness can be equated with happiness in some respects. sadness could easily emanate from being elated even for a very short period of time. Tolerating the impact of sadness could very well bring happiness in the midst of a personal crisis... notwithstanding the smile that one can come up with as the transformation of feelings occur without undue restraints. |

I can never fully understand why life is like this sometimes.... it's all but a memory in a few decades but you know, living our lives could mean much more than they are if we just try to be ourselves and in doing so, we can even possibly deprive ourselves of some things that were part of us, our body and soul... we crave for many things but why? Material things don't really matter much when we think about it. they simply go in circles... and in the end we will find out that the wishes we wished for were mere mortal substances that we would have rejected had we known that we, too, are mortal. Yet these mortal things are concocted in our subconscious as we dare leap the cliffs of damnation even if we could have avoided them. |

ANOTHER THOUGHT |
If there's such a thing as reincarnation, I would like to really find out what I was before. As one life is taken away, another comes in its place. Perhaps a better replacement, perhaps not. But who could have been dying at the time I was being born? Was he someone special? Was he someone forlorn? Or was he the man he was who needed a boost and they came up with me instead? I wonder. |

I came to the United States after enlisting into the Navy. After a brief stay of five years and several visits overseas that included New Zealand and Antarctica, I left. Found myself going back to school again and the adjustment--well, it was tough. I have traveled within the continental U.S., visiting mainly the national parks (my favorite destinations) and most major cities. I know there are more places I want to visit but I am taking my time. |

Can't say much more about myself for I know I'd be biased. Sometimes I feel more comfortable being pessimistic . Nevertheless, I agree that when given the opportunity, I would probably grab it. You see, opportunity is like the sunset--if you wait too long you'll miss it. |

I live in southern California in the small city of Oxnard (pop. 160,000). It's very near the beach--a place where one can find solitude if needed. It's very conducive to poetry-writing or simply burying your feet in the sand, watching a burnished sky as the sun gilds the waves. Ahhh... the beauty of nature, so sublime! |
Aside from poetry, I like photography and travel. I find myself traveling out of my state every summer--a time when one needs to unwind from the rigors of work and the stresses of Mother Time herself. Although I don't consider myself good at any of them, I find enjoyment in just knowing that I can do something and if it makes others smile, the better. |

Time is too slow for those who wait, too swift for those who fear, too long for those who grieve, too short for those who rejoice, but for those who love, time is eternity. |
The late Garson Kanin put it mildly: "Upon those who love, ungenerous time bestows a thousand summers." |

To love life is to celebrate an achievement. It is not just birthdays that we care about. It's also about living for others meaning that we should immerse ourselves into something for our betterment and our fellow men. Our contribution doesn't really have to be that grand. Yet it should have an impact that they would remember a day was a little better because of you. |
I find it more fulfilling to have done something for the good of the populace than for one's self--the selfless sacrifices, the devotion to duty, the courage. If I could come back again into this world and be free to choose what I would be--I would choose to be a writer. |

Being in the health care profession, I have done other things but they're really not worth telling for now. I now devote much of my time with people. People who need people, people who can make a difference if given the opportunity. And I like to be a part of their lives as they get better and strive to go on with the lives they have started. They deserve so. And I was "infront" of that closed door... and i "opened" it. |

Although I treasure many things, the poems and essays in here are some of the reasons why I could spend a good amount of time infront of the computer. I just type away thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Through the years, I have accumulated a substantial amount of poems and these are the ones that I happened to have tucked away. I know I have written more but somehow they ended up somewhere. I am forever grateful to people like you who find time to browse through words and phrases put together to paint a picture, or share a feeling or a sentiment. |
I used my own brush to paint the pictures but feel free to use your own imagination as you read through them. If they don't seem to "make sense" it's because I wrote them that way. But try to enjoy them nonetheless. |

(I have met many friends here and all of them have touched my life one way or another. To all of you: thanks for being there at the right place and at the right time. ) |
